The Family Man

Episode 1

Honey! Honey!!

Darl, you’re yelling, Chibuike responded.

Yes, I’m yelling, she continued, I had suggested we bought three kilos of turkey and you insisted on just one. Now we are expecting visitors, my relations, and we have only three pieces left. You know my two sisters would come with their husbands and kids and…

Hey darl, take it easy, he intercepted. You’re turning red already, your yellow sweet cheeks look as redhot as your hot plates.

He stared into her eyes and she could see he was trying. If “trying” was anything to go by, he could not be faulted as a family man. Itanje, the fiery goddess, appeared somewhere close to the wall where the boy stood. She looked at him sternly, for Itanje knew for sure that he was the only act of kindness that had gone out of her or the works of her hands. A witty smug filled her face as memories of her first son came to mind. But it was not her fault. She always had to do the needful. Continue reading

Selective Amnesia

‘Call me Lucy Drake, barrister Lucy Drake. It might sound a bit awkward that a male bears Lucy – take it or leave it! But don’t bother me. This is who I am and who I’ve always wanted to be…’ He panted repeatedly, his forehead wet with sweat. His heart couldn’t produce words any further, he dropped to the floor, pushed the stop button, recording stopped. He passed out.
